I purchased this oracle because I was told it was the BEST oracle deck for someone who worships the Kemetic (ie: ancient Egyptian) gods, the Netjeru.I love this deck, but there's definitely a lot of non-Egyptian material with Kundalini, chakras, Hindu concepts, and other New Age concepts mixed in. Some of the interpretations of the Netjeru are, in my opinion, questionable, such as placing Mafdet in the "air" family.For the most part, the art on these cards is gorgeous. And the accompanying book is great at explaining the meanings of the cards. You may not agree with all the interpretations, but you can tell the people who made this oracle put a lot of thought into it!The way you lay out the oracle is interesting, too. You can do it like you would with traditional tarot. Or, you can use the special dice that comes with the oracle. The first toss of the dice corresponds to a column in a sacred Pythagorean square (it's not as hokey as it sounds, actually). The second corresponds to the row. You have to repeat this twenty times, because you lay out ten cards in a decade/tetractys/sacred triangle. It definitely gives you time to contemplate the question you want answered.Overall, I'm pleased with this deck. If you're super familiar with ancient Egyptian symbolism, you'll catch onto this oracle pretty quickly. If you're not, you're going to have to do some legwork but it is sooooo worth it.

this is a delight for the eyes and soul. i did use the die initially then i just used the cards that i keep wrapped in silk. you'd think someone involved with the esoteric would tell that the people called their land km't which means black earth. tsk tsk. i should've knocked a star off for it, but i didn't.

My item didn't come with the divination deck, it only came with the book. Nowhere on your description says that it's the book only, if anything it has the word DECK in the title. Everyone in the reviews got their card deck except for mine.

I must say that the cards are beautiful & do speak to me. The book has really good information about the different deities. The spread however, I have a hard time connecting with it. So, I use spreads meant for angel cards since there is no reverse in either type of cards. When I use the other spreads, I have an easier time connecting with the cards and the readings always come out accurate. My advice, go with your instincts on how to read the cards & make a connection. You will not be disappointed.

I stumbled upon this little treasure by chance and absolutely love it! I have always been attracted to Egyptian lore and have collected various oracles and Tarot decks with similar themes. This one takes the cake! Historically based and thoroughly researched, it is not just a simple pack of cards.The artistic skill could be a little tighter. The colors are not vivid, the execution is not as professional as it could be. What it lacks here, philosophically this set is lightyears ahead of all competition. It took about a month of study and review until it gave its secrets. It was mindboggling! I was a strict believer that the tarot did not come from Egypt. Now I am not so sure. This is not a tarot deck but it works like one if desired through random shuffling. I really appreciate the casting of the included 8 sided die.There are some hard to believe theories presented as well; such as life originating on another planet, and rather abstract theories on the afterlife. I wished the book was longer, with sections on magical applications and individual invocations. To a creative magician, this is not difficult. Time will tell where this deck ends up. I was clueless as to its existence before this year. A second edition with some beefed up artistry would be nice but who knows...

FINALLY I OWN TAROT CARDS THAT I REALLY CONNECT WITH. THE ENERGY OF THESE CARDS R CREDIABLE

I bought this deck thinking that this was a tarot deck...boy, was I surprised when I got the set. However, not to be bogged down, I sat down and went through the Book and then even did a few readings for myself and my friends.It was powerful, to say the least! The readings are quite accurate and on the dot. I never thought that it would happen, but I have come to develop a respect for this method of divinition.You can use this deck like a regular tarot deck as well and it still provides you with the answers you seek! This is how interesting this deck is.I must say that I loved it!

A very complex system of study you will understand if you are already attuned to the archaeology of ancient Egypt. Can be used for 'quick' divination but may be better used as a source of study.

"The Strange Case of Origami Yoda" is a book targeted at younger readers using an imaginative "Star Wars" device as a touchstone. The book is amusing for those who enjoy the film series, and largely deals with subjects interesting to middle school students (and others) worldwide, with the angst of becoming a teenager targeted in humorous vignettes. The book is told in an unusual format, using a central narrator to weave together stories from the viewpoints of different kids. The fundamental question boils down to "is Origami Yoda real?" The theory has both supporters and detractors, but it will not surprise you to learn that the real need to know the answer revolves around asking a cute girl to dance at a PTA function. Along the way there are many amusing diversions ("Soapy the monkey presents: 'Feeling good about our smells,'") as well as childhood nightmares like dodgeball and even squirrel attacks.I admit that I bought this as a gift but read it myself first. Although I declined to make my own Origami Yoda (directions are included) and subscribe mostly to Marcie's viewpoint of the green wad of paper on the end of Dwight's finger, the book is entertaining in its own peculiar way, and will be a true hit with budding pre-adolescent boys in particular.

My 2nd grade son is an advanced reader but honestly doesn't like to read chapter books very often. This totally had his attention and he begged for the next one in the series! Over all it was just a fun story but there are some concepts like teasing classmates or even having first crushes and kissing. Not bad concepts at all but for my 2nd grader this was new territory, so just be aware as parents. Most kids that read this will probably be in 4-6th grade so these ideas are more common, but if you are like me with an advanced reader it is good to know they are discussed.

This book follows Dwight, a weird kid that gives advice to others through his origami Yoda finger puppet. Tommy and his friends want to find out if the finger puppet actually has special powers or not. The novel then pans out like a series of short stories where we see Yoda giving advice to different characters. Tommy and his friend Harvey then evaluate what to make of each story: does it prove that finger puppet Yoda has special powers or not? Along the way, there are amusing doodles off to the side of the page, which can be funny and help the reader picture how different characters look.The book's more than funny, though. It shows readers how some people might try acting weird to get attention, and it shows how "weird people" can be very smart in some ways. So there is a message amongst the humor.By the way, I know very little about Star Wars, but I still found this book funny. And I'm an adult, but I still found this book funny! So even if you're not in the book's target audience, this is a fun, quick read.If you're a parent determining whether or not this book is appropriate for your child, continue reading, but be prepared for spoilers.***** SPOILERS *****Okay, there is no cussing in the book, which is good. The insults never go anywhere beyond "dipwad" or similar childish names. No controversial issues (such as race or religion) enter the mix. In fact, there's just one part of the book that bothers me. Origami Yoda tells a character to attack a boy who made fun of a girl. This character follows Yoda's advice and ends up getting suspended for fighting at school. However, the girl is so impressed that the character stood up for her that she decides to go out with him. I'm not sure that's a good message to be sending kids. That's all I really wanted to caution you on.

I originally ordered this book for a college Children's Literature class. It was one of the required reading materials for the course. Out of all the books we had to read (over 15), this was my favorite. It concentrates on a small group of kids in middle school, and it tells different chapters of the book in the viewpoint of different characters. My favorite was Dwight, who created the Origami Yoda in the first place. He's much smarter than any of them gave him credit for, orchestrating not only his own date, but matching Tommy up with his crush! Dwight made this finger puppet of Yoda, and fooled all of the kid's into thinking that Yoda was 'real' - even giving advice in'Yoda' wording. At first they all think it's silly - until the 'advice' starts coming true!Dwight was super cool to me because he didn't care what anyone else thought. He was true to himself, and he managed to laugh at himself. But he knew - from Yoda, of course - that Sarah liked Tommy. And he used Yoda to convince Tommy to go to the dance. They all had fun, and even danced 'The Twist' at the party - also suggested by Yoda.I thought it was a sweet 'coming of age' kind of story. I thought that it was a very original, even though certain things within the story are universal. It's something that kid's can relate to - as well as adults who have been there! It was fun, light-hearted, and sweet. I am even tempted myself to pick up the rest of this author's works! Perfect for children in middle school! As well as people who are just young at heart!

I love this series. They just contain some of the best writing for kids and adults out there. The stories are humorous and touching, and magical. Something rare that I can't find any flaws in, and which I don't want to because I love them.I have shared this series with my son. (My daughter prefers to closet herself away and enjoy them by herself.) We read them together and laugh. And we discuss what's going on and how we feel about how the different characters choose to act.In this book, we're introduced to Tommy and Dwight and the rest of the gang. And the best way to describe the essence of the book, without giving any spoilers, is to say that Dwight doesn't talk much unless he's got origami Yoda on his finger. And when he does that, he isn't really talking as Dwight so much, as the venerable Jedi. Or so it seems.Yoda's cryptic wisdom makes this story shear magic. My boy and I HIGHLY recommend the series.
