Review
”Fearless’ is a word that not too many people can appreciate until they are faced with a situation that calls for an actual fearless act. And Daniel Sheehan, with the resources of government history’s most fearless lawyers. He was fearless from the beginning, when he first learned what the word political” really meant. At age seventeen, he clashed with Senator Jacob Javitz over an appointment to the United States Air Force Academy. Instead, it went to the son of a major campaign contributor. This teenager would grow up to become a lawyer on some of the most-politically hot cases in a generation: The Pentagon Papers, Watergate, Iran/Contra, among many others. His memories are both fascinating and horrifying. Fascinating because Sheehan places you directly inside the halls of power, and horrifying for the same reason. Look, Danny,” one House investigator tells Sheehan, if anyone is so ignorant that he doesn’t know that the Central Intelligence Agency has been smuggling heroin from Southeast Asia through Cuba into the United States for decades to secretly finance first the Nationalist Chinese and later their covert operations in Southeast Asia, then that person is too ignorant to function effectively in Washington, D.C.” At the same time, Sheehan is told, Don’t make the foolish mistake of trying to tell the American people about the secret history of the United States.”Sheehan resolved to do everything I could to change that operating principle in Washington.”Beginning with The Pentagon Papersa case that echoes into today’s news over the people’s right to know what the government is doingSheehan has fulfilled that promise to himself. This memoir takes us directly inside Sheehan’s fearless mind.” Foresight

Infuriating, engrossing, illuminating, and the best read I've had in years. Do yourself a huge favor and read this book. Then watch Sheehan's University courses on the Kennedy assassination and the shadow government. They're free on YouTube. Then tell your friends about it all. If they're like most of my friends they won't give a rat's ass about it all. Sigh.
This book is an eye opener that will make you question what happen to the Republic established 228 years ago. When Franklin was asked by a woman on the streets of Philadelphia 'what kind of government have you brought us? His reply was "a republic madam, if you can keep it". We got lazy and it is gone! Daniel Sheehan outlines with great care the demise of America and its replacement, a oligarchic fascist state controlled by a surveillance state and the military, industrial, congressional complex!
A scary book. It is non-fiction and that's why it is so frightening. I couldn't lay it down once I started reading it and its 594 pages.A lot of evil people serve in government. Both republicans and democrats at the highest levels. Sheehan, Danny he likes to be called gives a view behind the headlines and lies of those in power - both in the public sector and at the highest political levels.I don't agree with Sheehan on many of his political views, but I certainly would list him as an America Hero for having the guts to tell the truth about what happens behind closed doors in Washington DC and corporate board rooms.Every high school and college should have it on the reading list.
An amazing book with significant details about so many important American Constitutional and high level cases1 So much brought to life and are awareness by this fascinating man, lawyer...sensitive, caring, loving, and well grounded and connected to ALL aspects American life and history. And his personal story...from dysfunction/traumatic family life and severe challenges to being a Harvard trained lawyer, Divinity school for theology and philisophy.....just utterly awesome in depth and specific facts and details and informed opinions and clear perspectives. Just start out reading one chapter at a time..and see how it goes.......THEN check out his more current efforts and passions via youtube.com searches!
The general population does not realize the corruption that takes place daily behind our governments closed doors. This will be a well documented "eye-opener" for anyone who reads.
The story of Dan Sheehan’s life and career is fascinating. He has been in a position to be a part of some of the most important legal cases of the last 40 years. The story is told enthusiastically and sympathetically yet seems embellished at times at least with respect to the dialogue. At times the writing can be repetitive (how many times can you write “anti-Castro Cuban exiles) and some passages became monotonous with legal case descriptions but for the most part, it was engaging as a memoir. It is scary and depressing to see what our government is capable of and flatly terrifying to think what could happen under trump.
This autobiography reads like a spy/mystery story. It's not the boring account of a prissy lawyer-- if you like anything that counters the oligarchic powers that be in the US circa 2013+, you might like it. This guy is a hero, and I'm sure it's only his later interest in UFO's that has kept him off the Deep State's Hit list. You know the drill," just another nutcase". Check out his youtubes.
If you're interested in constitutional honesty, this is a book for you, as this attorney author was involved in many of the country's past scandals. Great work in law cases illuminated by ideals we still cherish.
