About the Author

Leslie Odom, Jr. has most recently been seen in the blockbuster Broadway musical Hamilton, for which he won the Tony Award for Best Leading Actor in a Musical for the role of “Aaron Burr.” He is a Grammy Award winner as a principal soloist on Hamilton’s Original Broadway Cast Recording, which won the 2015 award for Best Musical Theater Album. This book is beautifully written. While telling Leslie Odom, Jr.'s story, true words of wisdom are threaded throughout for the reader to reflect upon. This book showcases the value of hard work, love, dedication, and gratitude.

I can’t decide where to begin...this book is eloquently written in such a way that it matches the message I try to deliver to my kids everyday. I have been a fan of this man since 2009 and he inspires me and my daughter in everything he does.Read the book, use it when you can’t form the words to inspire your kids to chase their dreams. Stay Woke, and #trustthejourney.

This is a great book chronicling the rise of a meteoric talent. I must say, I feel inspired and moved. Much of his book is about getting unstuck from life's obstacles and it deeply resonated with me. It's a quick read and so worth it!

I finished this book in about 3 hours total. I was hooked! His ability to write and compel the reader to learn a lesson in every sentence is incredible. I did not want this book to end! If you have any interest in Broadway, acting or just bettering yourself - this is a MUST READ! Thank you for this book!

In all honesty, I’m not a big reader...but I BREEZED through this in one sitting! I couldn’t put it down. Leslie is such an inspiration and really has a way with his words. This book is exactly what I needed to help push me out of my creative rut! I highly recommend it and can already tell I’ll be referencing it and re-reading it often!

I loved this book for its openness about the author's openess. It takes a special kind of person to expose his/her vulnerabilities so comfortably. Mr. Odom's introspective drive is to be admired and taken as a guide for achieving success in wherever one sets as their goal. He is a beautiful writer and, as such, made his journey an easy read. I think his book is a guide for young and old and not just for folks in the entertainment field.

This book not only gave me insight to the life of a truly gifted human being, but it got me off the couch in a spiritual and physical way.

I absolutely love everything about this book! I can see myself reading this multiple times and learning something new each time! So eloquently written. An absolute must read!! You are one amazing man Leslie Odom Jr!
